It's always good for me to write about former Trojan athletes who played before I got here. Usually, this happens each year when the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame stories start coming around. A couple of years back, it was Sim Byrd and Danny Grant.
This year, it was Doug Mims, a cornerback on the 1987 national championship team who came up with some big plays. Now an accountant in Dothan, Mims will be inducted into the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday with nine others.
